Does writing energize or exhaust you?

It depends on the genre and style of writing I am trying to complete. Poetry is exhausting, maybe because I work hard on it yet still fail to find consistency in my efforts.

Thrillers, crime drama, and fantasy do get my juices flowing. And I must admit I have fun writing some of the risque stuff, most likely because when one becomes old and fat, real-life sexy is pretty bland.

But my main source of exhaustion comes when I spend too much time composing and not enough editing.
