Noticing Newbies

Hi, Jaye, and welcome to Writing.com! I'm so happy you have found a way to work through some of your painful emotions. Writing works that way for me, too. I think you will find people on here are friendly and willing to help and give advice.

I note you say you write free verse poetry. I run a contest every month "Shadows and Light Poetry Contest" . This contest is purely free verse poetry, with no prompts. There's also a newbies' poetry contest "Fox's Socks Newbie Poetry Contest" . This contest doesn't run every month, but I know it's open at the moment.

There are many other contests and activities, along with more experienced writers happy to give their thoughts for free.

My advice to you would be to have a look around and see what catches your eye.
