I think it really depends on a couple of things for me. 1. Who says it and 2. How it is said. If somebody whom I respect says it, like my dad, then I am going to take it like a dose of medicine and keep my mouth shut - especially if I wasn't listening the first time. I probably deserved it. It's a learning situation. BUT, if someone says it in a sarcastic or uppity manner, and I don't owe them any respect, and I know for sure I don't deserve to be spoken to like that, then they don't deserve for me to hold my patience with them - or for me to hold my tongue. And quite honestly, those situations (and people) really tick me off. To say it irritates me would be too mild by far. I have my Momma's temper; may she rest in peace. |
