All I can muster is a few bushfires in Africa during my teenage years. They were not exactly disasters anyway, as we all, kids, adults and anyone available, just grabbed things to beat out the flames and went out to battle them. They were essentially grassfires, since there are fewer trees in Africa, so were not the raging infernos created in forest country. But they threatened our houses and property even so. In England I was never in danger of becoming more than a bit damp. And, although the States have given me a few power outages, they've never lasted more than a few hours. Seen some blizzards and an ice storm, been close to a tornado, but so far America has been kind to me. |
