This device is very useful for emphasis, as applied in a popular beer commercial ( https://www.superbowl-ads.com/bud-light-is-bringing-dilly-dilly-to-the-super-bow... ) and can also be used to generate rhythm, as clearly demonstrated in the Everly Brothers' hit song All I Have To Do Is Dream   or the original "dilly dilly" song Lavender Blue   .
