: Dawn Embers @ 09-28-24 @ 3:49pm Re-read: Power Plays & Straight A's for the second time. I like the social awkward nerd who happens to fall in love with his best friend's hockey playing brother. I even liked the weird friend, Rae, who is very deadpan in responses. : Jeff @ 04-28-14 @ 3:48pm David and Goliath: Underdogs, Misfits, and the Art of Battling Giants by Malcolm Gladwell. Not as good as The Tipping Point and Outliers, but still a compelling read. This one felt like the stories overwhelmed the analysis. : BillieGail memory of Cheyenne @ 04-24-14 @ 7:39pm The "Odd Thomas" series by Dean Koontz. I fell in love with Odd and rooted for him through out all of the books. I loved the way he could always see but, not enough to know everything. He even has a ghost dog in a couple of books. A MUST read!. : Jed Jones - banned novel @ 04-24-14 @ 4:57pm The Darling Buds of May by H.E. Bates - not many stories feature randy old spinsters. When I heard it was going to be dramatized for TV, I thought, they'll never find an actress with eyes like bees to play Mariette, and they found Catherine Zeta Jones. : Jeff @ 04-24-14 @ 2:37pm The Name of the Wind and its sequel The Wise Man's Fear by Patrick Rothfuss. It's a compelling and enjoyable epic fantasy series, and the only disappointing thing is having to wait until 2016 for the last installment! : Dawn Embers @ 04-24-14 @ 2:29pm Uglies by Scott Westerfeld. A great book with a character who struggles to get what she wants, maintain friendships and fall in love while finding out the truth about the world she once knew. YA must read. : Dawn Embers @ 04-03-14 @ 2:03pm Ash by Malinda Lo - It's a well written retelling of Cinderella that includes a fairy and a huntress. A good twist on a classic tale. : Osirantinous @ 01-16-14 @ 2:42am The Raven Boys and The Dream Thieves (books 1 and 2) of "The Raven Cycle" by Maggie Stiefvater. Absolutely refreshing way of writing. Loved both of them, now have to spend a year hanging out for the third book. : Dawn Embers @ 08-10-13 @ 4:13pm The Last Thing I Remember by Andrew Klavan. Book 1 in a trilogy about a teen who wakes up unable to remember what happened. It's a definite boy book with karate, guns and even a bomb. High action and kept me reading. : Dawn Embers @ 07-12-13 @ 12:39pm Paranormalcy by Kiersten White. I liked the book for YA paranormal romance. Main character is quirky though obsesses over the boy a bit. And story went routes I didn't expect. Good read overall. : Dawn Embers @ 05-28-13 @ 9:29pm The Thirteenth Chime by Emma Michaels. It was an okay book, had an interesting premise. Liked the Ex-BF main character more than the Girl main character. : Hannah ♫♥♫ @ 05-07-12 @ 9:32am I love fantasy and am currently reading Ring of Intrigue (Book 2) by Jane S. Fancher. What an imagination she has! : Yera ~Twelve!~ @ 05-04-12 @ 1:16am Ilium and Olympos by Dan Simmons. Think Sci-Fi and Greek mythology with a touch of Shakespeare and dinosaurs. I highly recommend the two books. Total Displayed: 13 |
