Evan's head was still throbbing and it would be a good excuse to stay home and test out his power. His head was hurting so much that he wouldn't be able to focus anyway. The more he focused on it, the more he realized how much it hurt. He reached a hand up to his head, not that it would do anything.
"Evan, are you all right?" his mother asked him, seeing the pained look on his face.
"Not really," he replied. "I've got a killer headache and I feel like I got no sleep last night."
"Well you look awful," his mother said.
"I feel awful."
"I hope you're not coming down with something. Why don't you skip school today and go back to bed? I'll call the school and let them know you're not feeling well."
"Thanks Mom," Evan said, grateful not to have to go to school.
"You could really use the rest. Stephanie will be here if you need anything."
Evan headed back up to his room and climbed back into bed, where he quickly fell asleep. He woke up a few hours later, the pounding in his head seeming to have stopped. He got up and thought about what to do. He had a power to test out after all.
