Whose Following Us

    by: lonely_for_love
The knights had set out early that morning, it was now evening and they were still going and not stopping except to review the packet of information fortelling how to get to their destination. Most of the day was spent travelling on horseback while talking about their plans, among other things. After coming to a fork in the road, some arguing, and double, even triple checking of the info packet they took the path into the dark forest.

Suddenly one of the knights halted his horse and began looking around.

"What is it Donovan?" inquired another knight.

Donovan looked around once more before he started his horse and replied, "I guess it was nothing Andrew, but I could have sworn I heard something."

After about a minute another knight stopped his horse and drew his sword, "What was that?"

"What, what did you see Thomas?" asked the fifth knight drawing his bow and arrow.

"I thought I saw two riders in the woods. I believe I saw them earlier but thought nothing of it then, now it seems they may be following us. But they're gone now, Bernard," Thomas answered.

They continued on without any further discussion of the two mysterious riders. After another half hour they reached a clearing and decided to make camp for the night and set off in the morning.

~*~*~*~*~

Little did the knights know that they were being followed and the two riders were watching them and preparing to set up camp as well.

"This will be a good place for the night. It's well hidden from the knights and we shouldn't be bothered by any wild animals," one of the riders, apparently male, spoke from beneath his hooded cloak.

The second continued to look around uncertain. From beneath the hood came a soft female voice, "Are you sure we'll be safe? And that the knights won't see us? They almost did earlier and if they find us they'll send us home."

"We'll be fine. Are you sure we should tell them we're here and that we want to help them?" the male asked while starting to unpack some sleeping bags and other things needed for the night.

"I'm sure, if they find us they'll send us home. They may even take us home and lose valuable time that could be used to find the treasure," the female responded, helping him set up camp.

"Hey, where's the knights go?"

Both were looking at the knights' camp, but seeing no knights. "I don't know, they left all their stuff there, maybe they went for firewood," the female suggested.

"But they already have a fire, and look there's a large pile of firewood. Maybe we should check it out."

"What if they come back?"

"We'll wait a few minutes. If they're not back in a few minutes we'll investagate, okay?"

"Yeah, I guess that's fine."

A few minutes passed and knights still had not returned to their seemingly abandoned campsite. So the two hooded riders ventured from their own campsite to inspect that of the knights.

"It looks as if they just dropped everything and left."

"Yeah, I wonder why."

You have the following choices:

1. The knights had been attacked

2. The knights are hiding, waiting to attack the two riders
