This parody of "I Have Confidence" from "The Sound of Music" is in homage to Comma Sense. |
What will this day be like? I wonder. What will my future be? I wonder. It could be so exciting to be out of this class, to be free! My heart should be wildly rejoicing. Oh, what's the matter with me? I'm always using the comma, applying rules I've never dared. Now here I'm facing the last class, then why am I so scared? A comma with thirty rules here, what's so fearsome about that? Oh, I must stop these doubts, all these worries, if I don't I just know I'll not write. I must dream of the rules I am seeking. I am seeking the rules that I lack. The courage to use them with reliance, face my mistakes without defiance, show them I'm worthy, and while I write them I'll...right...me... So,...let them bring all their exceptions! I'll do better than my best! I have confidence they'll put me to the test, but I'll make them see I have comma sense in me! Somehow, I will impress them! Winnie is firm but kind. And all those commas, (Heaven bless them!) they will chase after me and find me! With each grade I am more certain everything will turn out fine. I have confidence the rules can all be mine! They'll have to agree I have commas within me! I have confidence in clauses! I have confidence in phrase! I have confidence that That will come again! Besides which you see I have comma sense in me. Strength always in rule numbers! Strength always found in growth! Strength lies in nights of peaceful slumbers, when you're released from -- This Class here! It's healthy - all these rules I lead my heart to... All I learn becomes my own. I have confidence in comma rules alone. (Oh help!) I have confidence in comma rules alone. Besides which you see I have confidence in me!
