A log of the magnificent journey across the vast sea of my imagination. |

I long to hug and kiss my grandkids, but sterile plexiglass forbids such human contact. Notes on the Landay form of poetry ▼ |
My Muse wants me to work, but before I do, I must take a break so I can pour coffee. Poetic writing's boosted by more coffee. Notes ▼ |
In the Navy, coffee in the morning, coffee in the afternoon, coffee all day long. While underway, coffee in the engine room, coffee in the boiler room, coffee everywhere you go. Fuel oil delivers power to drive propellers; coffee provides energy to get sailors through the day. Notes ▼ |
My morning coffee creates a bond with friends who appreciate the value of peace. My morning coffee beside the pond with ducks-- quiet interlude before day begins. My morning coffee extends beyond morning into afternoon, giving me a boost. Notes ▼ |
Originally entered in August round of "Stormy's poetry newsletter & contest" with deadline of August 8, 2020, and prompt words: lighthouse hope seagull waves sand power crashing clouds. ("My entry for August" ) Stately lighthouse marks jutting coast. Relentless sentinel of hope throws pulsing beams into the dark for souls who sail the sea at night. Shrill seagulls flock 'round splintered hull of barquentine which came too close. Her captain drowned in crashing waves and washed up on the sandy beach. Back home, his loving wife projects power of faith for his return, standing vigil from rooftop ledge, 'til black clouds send chills down her spine. She knows he will never come home. Notes ▼ |
Cabin fever got you depressed? You must remain resolute lest you be joined by unwelcome guest. Stay the course to withstand the test. Avoid street corner pharmacist peddling pills from illicit list. Instead, you had better insist on licensed psychoanalyst. Notes on the Malaysian Syair form of poetry ▼ |
A spectacular display of pyrotechnics concludes a night of holiday festivities to everyone’s delight. After a day of parades and cookouts, we gather there to watch popping starbursts and pink palms rising in the air amidst the sizzle of red rain that glitters. What a sight! As much as the garish, whiz-bang pageant does to excite patriotic fervor in this holiday crowd tonight, we soon find out that Nature’s version is beyond compare-- a spectacular display. She stirs electric energy in the air to ignite blazing bolts of lightning, which explode with horrendous might, and booming thunder that fiercely shakes the very earth where we stand, awed by this marvelous event, and join in prayer, paying homage to a dazzling panorama of light-- a spectacular display! AUTHOR'S NOTES: ▼ |
What bewitching charms do sultry summer nights hold over souls of innocents? Fireflies flicker, float, mingle among dancing stars, as river of life rolls on. Notes on the Mondo form of poetry ▼ |
** Image ID #2223061 Unavailable ** The heartless Queen of Darkness reigns over her domain with an iron fist and ice cold blood coursing through her veins. She goes ballistic when someone mentions her midnight tryst with Mister Vlad from Transylvania and his dastardly intentions. Dismissing loyal minions, her Royal Majesty projects an egotistical attitude and succumbs to scourge of human vanity. Obsessed with quest for eternal youth, she celebrates her birthday with a feast prepared by boiling subjects' flesh and blood. Notes ▼ |
Beneath blue skies, soft waves caress the shore, and attitude begins to soar as ocean breezes croon, while puppy chases butterflies across the rolling dune-- routine's demise. Notes on the Star Sevlin form of poetry ▼ |
