The truth is I am naked,
prancing across the intersection
of Broadway and Seventh Avenue.

What's that oshiffer?
Have I been drinking?
Well, maybe a teeny weeny martoony or three.

Go for a ride?
Sure. Please take me to the airport.
My flight leaves at two.

No. They can't leave without me.
I am the pilot, you see,
and that is the naked truth.

Life is fun when we first heat homemade love
and treasured when we complete homemade love.

I traveled down a dusty gravel road
in ragtop Chevy to meet homemade love.

Sunday supper with ham and collard greens
means we are about to eat homemade love.

The smell of apple pie in the oven
proves there is nothing like sweet homemade love.

Dancing in the kitchen with our shoes off
soon impels us to repeat homemade love.

No matter what trouble may come our way,
there's no way it can defeat homemade love.

If our broken spirit requires repair
,
it must be time to reheat homemade love.

In maternity ward nine months later,
we are delighted to greet homemade love.

When ill winds threaten the spring in our step,
we simply add discreet homemade love.

The bond we have cannot be bought from store,
so we will never deplete homemade love.

Marooned at home by quarantine,
enchanting song of family
beckons to us from up above.

We climb the stairs to the attic
and open time capsule stored there
to reconnect with decades past.

Love letters from the war long ago,
photographs of our wedding day
and Uncle Clyde's snaggle-toothed grin,
futuristic kitchen gadgets
from World Fair on our honeymoon.

These memories are the glue
that preserves our sanity
during such troublesome times.

On sultry summer night at the beach,
moonbeams caress the hearts of couple,
letting go of all the stops
tangled up in love between the dunes.

Where o where did all the toilet tissue go?

Confronted by an empty roll
while perched upon the crapper
above a putrid pile of poop,
after diarrhea went out of control,
I need a wipe immediately.

This chocolate-colored soup
has spattered everywhere.

Please find the fluffy extra-ply type
that is gentle on my hemorrhoids.

Oh! Please also bring a clean pair of jeans.

Autumn brings a cast of frightful creatures
wrought from Mother Nature's wrath,
brought to bear on wings of Chaos,
taught by a raging psychopath.

Florence came to call and delivered
torrents of swirling wind and rain,
pouring toxic waste through streets and homes,
roaring across the plain.

Behind a traffic barricade,
we find a hungry crow
inclined to hunt for road kill.
He dined on mangled doe.

Satisfied, he preens his ruffled feathers.
Rats and cats and dogs quarrel,
battling to survive in scene
that begins the journey back to normal.

Coronavirus spreads fear
around the world, striking near.
Some say cure will soon appear,
but future is still unclear.

Will life get better or worse?
We question length of this curse,
but Bible's chapter and verse
will guide from cradle to hearse.

Stephen King once said,
"The road to hell
is paved with adverbs,"
with which I concur,
because they do not speak
forcefully enough.

Treasured memories of home
return, again and again,
every one a slice of life
accumulated through the years,
stored away in the heart's attic,
until pandemic strikes and we need
reinforcement by
engaging happier moments
during this time of uncertainty.
