Review of Gran's Accident.
Review by Meg
Rated: 13+ | (5.0)
Still the ever caring Grand daughter, aren't you? Taking time out to write to Gran.
I'm sure if you took pillows and swags to the hospital, Gran could watch the kids while you all had a night out. It would take the pressure off worrying about getting a babysitter the kids don't know.
Love and kindness? You are just full of it, aren't you? You are one of a kind! (Thank goodness!)
Stand up comedy is your calling, I reckon!
Cheers Meg.

There are days when you can't quite see the face
Of someone you knew so well,
In another time and in another place,
But when you sense that familiar smell,
Those warm and fuzzy feelings grow
In your heart and in your mind,
And the memories like a river flow,
So strong are those ties that bind.

Thanks for a great giggle at the goings on of a normal (dis)functional family.
Poor, poor Gran, confined to her bed. Thank goodness she has you to keep her up to date with all the news of what the family is doing with her money and her house and possessions.
Maybe it's just as well the doc has her on morphine. All of that excitement would be too much for her anyway.
If someone ever tries to tell her you are all squandering her money and convinces her to take you all to court, don't worry. She'd lose the case. She wouldn't have a leg to stand on.
Keep up your correspondence with her. I'm sure she looks forward to your letters.
Cheerio Meg.

Review of Save the Life
Review by Meg
Rated: E | (4.5)
Hi Hannah,
Your natural rhythm as a drummer is echoed in your poetry. It seems to be something you just can't avoid.
Some poets count the syllables in each line to set the rhythm, but I can see you use a phrasing technique as I prefer to do, to make the poem flow smoothly. Only one line in this poem I had to re-read to pick up where the emphasis was to be placed on the words. (2nd stanza-5th line). Once I re-phrased the words, the rhythm ran along as you intended it to flow.
A well written poem, with a message for conserving the great gifts this Earth has given us.
Cheers Meg.

Review of My Inner Drummer
Review by Meg
Rated: E | (5.0)
Hi Hannah,
Percussion? Great stuff!!
Your enthusiasm shines through in your poetry.
There are not many female drummers around so you will definitely stand out in a crowd.
My husband was a professional percussionist and one of my sons has followed in his footsteps.
There were so many times when the family all helped to pack their kits in the van to go to a job and then unpack when they got home, that I wished they had taken up the piccolo instead!! However, the pride we get watching them play is worth all of the assembling and disassembling involved.
Visit my son's port one day. I'm sure you will find something in common to chat about. BOOM ~ WE HAVE A BOY ! .
Keep those sticks rolling, Hannah.
Cheers Meg.

Review of About My Ratings
Review by Meg

I am not here because you reviewed one of my pieces, But I would dearly love you to review something of mine.
You obviously take your reviewing seriously and this is what every writer wants from a reader of his/her work.
It is always a bonus to know how a reader came to the conclusion as to how the piece was rated.
I think we can all learn something about our writing, no matter how long we have been putting our thoughts into words or rhyme.

Review of Fly Fishing
Review by Meg
Rated: E | (5.0)
Hi Ken, You have described the intricacies of fly fishing so well here.A person with no knowledge of the sport (me) can visualise the sequence of events from go to whoa that give the fly fisherman his thrills.
The keyword for success in this sport most definitely is patience. Patience making those little flies to look real (and stay intact!) right through to the patience waiting for the fish to to be lured to the bait.
A fine write for ones who love fly fishing to nod their heads in agreement "been there" and a great lesson for those, like me, to learn something of what seems to be a most relaxing yet stimulating sport.
Love it. Well done.
Cheers Meg.

It is so sad yet a fact of life we must live with. Nature can be so gentle and beautiful, yet it has that other side to it. That evil side, the force of nature that is bent on destroying everything it has created. Then it will make amends by creating something fresh and new in its place.
This is a sad but realistic story of how nature always has the final word.
Well written.

Review of Scrapbooking

Quite an informative piece of information put together in a poem, so "only the best will show".
I tried scrapbooking once. It took weeks to clean up the mess! You don't mention any of the mess that's made when scrapbooking, or is it just untidy me that gets in a mess while making something to go "ooh" and "ahh" about.
Lovely little poem that rolls along with a fun rhythm.
Thanks for this one
Cheers Meg.

Hi Nikola,
This is such a delightfully easy flowing rhyme it could be a song. Especially with the couplet between each stanza acting as an "All join in chorus".
Perfect rhyme and rhythm make for a very enjoyable read to someone who thrives on traditional poetry.
Thanks for this one.

Review of Doggy Kisses
Review by Meg
Rated: E | N/A (Review only item.)
Doggie kisses work wonders, I agree.
Not only for children but for adults too.
That unconditional love they give is a lesson that could be learned by a lot of the human race.
A sweet little poem this is, that brings back memories of all the little doggie friends I have had over the years and all of those Doggie kisses.
Might be wet and might be sloppy, but they are always warm.
Cheers Meg.

Hi Tor,
You promised a twist and it certainly sneaked up on me. I won't speak about it on this, a public review, so as to keep the twist a surprise for other readers.
This is a very well constructed poem with that element of realism that grips the reader, and compels him/her to keep reading on.
Your wording and phrasing are perfectly done to convey the rising and falling of emotions throughout the piece.
As a veteran's wife, I know exactly what the poem is referring to, and how these experiences can affect men for the rest of their lives.
Well done.
Cheers Meg.

A wonderful statement you have made here. Modern times are making it difficult for us not to use disposable products. Natural ones are becoming harder to get. We may go back to cloth nappies, but think of the water and non-biodegradable soaps we use to wash them. We can't win everytime, but we must try and win some of the time, or there will be a tears in everyones' eyes.
Good write, John.

Review of Prelude to Peace

Hi Braddock,
These thoughts are on the mind of all who wish for peace and harmony in the world.
Very well written. The rhyme and rhythm allows the poem to flow smoothly and let the reader absorb the relevant points you are making.
I like it very much.
Suggestions:-
4th stanza: With those who hate the other kind
5th stanza: And the loss we all must bear
Well done.

Another gem of poetry from you Muffins.
I just love poetry that can rhyme and flow along like a song, and you have done this so well, while keeping the threads of thought in your story progressing along. Poetry should, I feel, have a story to tell.
( An apostrophe seems to have wandered off the page in line 8 - world's)
Keep writing,
Cheers Meg.

A look like this expression on Boo's face, would make me go out and buy the Puppy Chow factory.
She is absolutely gorgeous.
5 stars for you and 5 doggy treats of her choice for Boo.
If she ever has puppies, I want to put my order in for one, please.

How true this is.
I really love your quotes and sayings and those little observations that we are all too blind to see for ourselves.
I look forward to reading some more of them.
Until then, let me leave you with these words of wisdom --

A fine example of a Pantoum, Shirley.
Talent like this never ceases to amaze me. One day I may become adventurous enough to try different forms. Until then I shall enjoy the work that you, my friend, do so well.

A thoroughly enjoyable time I have had visiting your fine collection of poems and stories, John.
Some happy, some sad, and some that were just so silly and frivolous that they made me feel so at home with a good friend.
The visit was just SUBLIME!
Keep writing, and I'll keep reading.
Cheers and many thanks,

Go along with the changes
We must for today is a new day.
I like this thought, John.
If we carry the traumas of yesterday into today, we won't be capable of handling today's dramas. And there is always a drama each day, be it big or small.
Great thoughts put into a neat little poetic package.
Well done.

This is quite a collection of quotes, John. They are sort of sophisticated bumper stickers, aren't they?
I don't think I could pick a favourite, but
Arrogance + ignorance = Stupidity would go pretty close to being my top choice. And the music one too, I love my music. Can't play, can't sing, but love music!
Thanks for these

Great story, Victoria. There is always a bully to be found, be it at school or even in the adult world.
It only takes one brave soul to stand up to them once and they are cut down to size forever.
Three cheers for Madeline. She can wear the tag "Bigfoot" with pride now, for it was Bigfoot who tamed the bully.
Cheers Meg.

Perfect! You have got it right! This is exactly what happens.
The problem I had at school functions was that with 6 children, there were times I didn't know whose Mum I was at the time!
My second eldest aged 43, has the nickname "Mother" for reasons too involved to mention here.
Should I ring him at work the only way I can get him to the phone is to tell the receptionist "It's Mother's Mother here".
You were quite right not to tell that young expectant Mum what was in store for her.
Let her find out the hard way like we had to!
Middle age makes one quite sadistic, doesn't it?
Cheers, Geno , BOOM ~ WE HAVE A BOY ! , Braddock , madannweb 's Mum.

WDC does this to us all, I'm afraid.
The positive side of waking in the middle of the night for a wee walk, is that you can just sneak a peek at the site on the way back to bed. Somewhere in the world, someone will be awake and willing to answer an email. (I know I am!)

I am afraid that I am way ahead of you Victoria.
I am past the bifocal stage, the hot and cold flashes,
and yes, you must carry a spare, just in case!
A daily once over with the tweezers is a pain, but it is better than cutting yourself!
Insomnia? It is peaceful at 2am, and there is no one else awake to hog the computer. More time for WDC activity!
However, you seemed to have missed one vital stage between menopause and death.
It's the stage where gravity starts to take over and everything seems to begin to slowly droop towards your feet! That hour glass figure goes all pear-shaped - literally!
Thanks so much for the group therapy session.
I don't look any better for it, but I think I deserve another box of chocolates, at least.
Cheers and keep your chins up.
