I thought you did a great job with the theme and content of this piece. Acts 2 is such a formative piece of scripture for me (our former church spent nearly two years reading through the Book of Acts in its entirety and dissecting it), I read your piece and it instantly brought to mind so many of the moments from Acts as a whole, as well as how integral Acts 2 is to the idea of the modern church. Really well done!


*Train* Suggestions

While I know that the form "quatrain" can cover a lot of ground, structurally speaking, I found it a bit difficult to find a rhythm in reading this piece because each quatrain seems to vary slightly. For example, the first quatrain didn't have any lines with a perfect rhyme, while the second one was abcb. But then the third one was abCC. And the fourth was abab.

If the goal was to demonstrate the versatility of the quatrain form, you might want to articulate that a bit more in the notes at the bottom of the piece (i.e., that you're intentionally playing with the form), otherwise I might humbly suggest aiming for a more consistent rhythm or structure from quatrain to quatrain so that the reader's focus isn't pulled away from the content and toward trying to figure out what the internal structure of the poem is supposed to be.

Overall, I thought this was a really enjoyable item to read. I loved the contest and while I think there's a bit of improvement that could be made in execution, it doesn't change the fact that this was a very effective, engaging piece. Nice work!

I liked the worldbuilding that you established in this piece. In only a few short paragraphs, you created a mythology about shifters, and included information about how they fit into the rest of society. That's not easy to do in a piece of this length. Great job!


Suggestions

Given the different cultural associations with shifters, I was hoping for a little more information on what a shifter is in this story you've created. For example, are shifters full shape-changers that can become creatures indistinguishable from humans (like Mystique in the X-Men universe), or are they humanoids who can change or modify some of their features but do not fully transformer (like Shifters from Dungeons & Dragons)?

If it's the former, and shapeshifters are able to fully become other creatures (like humans, for example), it might be worth spending more time to explain how society knows about them and why shapeshifters have a hard time integrating into society when they can literally take the form of members of society to blend in.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this premise for a story and I think you're off to a great start. There's some room to flesh things out a bit, but a solid foundation is already in place for you to expand upon. Nice work!

There were a few places where I think some clarity or revision is needed. The second line, for example, is missing an article. Should it be "A mark of a kiss" instead of "A mark of kiss"? Similarly, I think the "Want it constantly" line might be better phrased with a subject, such as "I want it constantly".

Positives

I liked the imagery and structure of this piece. It was an interesting, engaging read that kept my attention from beginning to end.


Suggestions

There were a number of technical issues with some of the lines, mostly related to the wrong form of the word or word tense. For example, some of the ones I noticed early on in the poem:

traped down myself into the darkness.
Is that supposed to be "trapped" or maybe "draped"?

My inner heart was full of ambitious
Based on the tense of the piece, I think this should be "ambition"

My life seems enigmas
I think this should be "enigmatic"


Overall

Overall, I think there's a bit of work to be done to polish this poem up a bit, but you've got a great foundation and there's a ton of potential here. Nice work!
