It depends on the person and the situation. I have read that using positive affirmations is a bunch of bunk. In scientific studies, it's as effective as a placebo. The other side of the coin though, is that positive (or negative) thinking when you're in a calm, grounded state of mind can make a difference to your mental and physical health. (Yeah, I'm talking about meditation.) This has also been proven – if you sit or lie calmly, relax, breathe, you it's possible to a place within your body and mind for more positivity, love, light. I'd usually give a much more detailed explanation, but I'm learning to summarize and let go.
