This is a very well written and thought out article. I have always wondered how to write a cover blurb or description for a novel I am currently plotting out right now. This has been a great help. From a very grateful aspirant writer, you are being placed on my favourites list just incase you write something else that proves to be as useful as this.

Thanks again!

This is absolutely brilliant! Rather funny too! My boss, at the supermarket I work in, is rather like Kong. I do have one suggestion, find out if your boss has a hobby. Worked with mine. He likes fishing, so talking about fishing helped in a way. I have more hours at work now because of that!

I'm almost tempted to print this item and pin it to the staff noticeboard.

Thanks for the laugh!

Review of Only Children
Rated: E | (5.0)
It is amazing how children can, both at the same time, give us adults a jolt of joyful chaos and creativity in two shots.

This wonderful little poem reminded me of a certain little incident that a child caused at work during the recent two week Easter break. Whilst the parents of this particular little tyke were shopping, said child decided to set the shop's fire alarm off by breaking the emergency glass over one of the switches near the store entrance!

My boss wasn't amused, but children will be children!

Thanks for writing this article, brimming with optimism. Here I was, lamenting the fact the adapter for my main laptop exploded somewhat, when I come across this. Thanks for giving me a virtual kick up the bum!

I'm gratified to hear your sight is improving! I hope this continues for the foreseeable future. Thanks again for the great message about positivity!

Welcome to WDC. I am rather happy to discover you are a fantasy writer! Yippee!

I must say this has me interested in this story/novel and you have only uploaded the synopsis or cover blurb. Were you inspired by the Lord of the Rings for for the blue toga wizards perhaps? It seems like it to me!

Anyway this has grasped my attention. Will you let me know when you have uploaded more of this please? I would have given 4 and a half to five stars, but there were just a few small grammar, plus spelling errors.

Apart from that, well done on such a first and fine upload.

Review of The Mallard Job

For some reason when I read the title of this upload as it popped up in the Read and Review section, I thought a crime piece about ducks.

Imagine my complete and utter surprise when I found I was correct. This was very enjoyable and I found it to be rather funny. The whole thing read like a very funny episode of Mrs Brown's Boys! Except it is based in Newcastle! If you are American, just google the TV show:

'Mrs Brown's Boys.'

Over here in the UK, despite the fact it can be quite crude in places, this show is one of the funniest things I've seen in years.

Well done on such a fine bit of comedy.

Review of Puddle Song

For me, this poem absolutely signifies the joy young children can locate in the most simple things they encounter....

Such as a puddle of rainwater. This brought a huge smile to my face, plus bringing back memories of me doing such an act as this.

Of jumping into a huge puddle! This poem is brimming with youthful joy at simple delights!

Well done!

Was this poem meant to be a metaphor between the seasons of the year and various ways our lives can take at all? I just stumbled across this and had to ask the verse concerning winter seemed to parallel an emotion we all experience in our lives.

Thank you for writing such a thought provoking poem.

Review of Princess Diaries

I really enjoyed reading through this. Even though it is the teenage angst of a fairytale princess marooned in a tower, I found this to be uniquely funny. I really didn't expect Gen's mother to rescue her, but that part was rather delightful to read! You do realize you could do a full novel from this piece.

It seems to me, this princess could rescue herself, rather than wait on a dim witted prince charming. Other writers have redone classic stories and done quite well after publishing them.

Have you ever thought about crafting a story about a rather tough, yet feisty princess, who after several years of being stuck in a tower, decides to escape and slay the guardian beast herself?

After all, one of the perks of being stuck in a tower, is all the books you can learn from! If you ever do decide to write such a book, let me know! I love kick ass female characters!

Nice little poem here. There are so many different types of poetry from all over the planet. I do enjoy reading poetry and this little gem was waiting for me in the random review rewards!

So is this style of poem Japanese or Chinese? Shows I have plenty to learn concerning the art of poetry!

Wow, I really envy your ability to craft and write poetry. I lost that ability through disuse but like to read poetry by other writers.

The words you've chosen and the way you've put them together clearly shows the loss that people can go through after experiencing such a deep love in certain parts, then the shattering pain of loss.

Finely crafted, well done!

The last part at the end tells me the intruder is a skunk, perhaps getting in through a door flap perhaps? I really enjoyed reading through this fiction. My most favourite part:

'Seconds later the most awful odor I have ever smelled drifted through the tent walls.'

Definitely sounds like a skunk to me! This made me laugh as I read it! Reminds me of a certain scene from the Belgariad when Belgarath turns into a civet cat!

This lovely poem I feel, describes the role of mothers everywhere perfectly. I often remember, with great fondness and deep love for my mother, the times she has been there for me throughout various points in my life.

Thank you for reminding me what a wonderful influence my mother continues to be in my life.

Review of Homeless Poems
Rated: E | (5.0)
Thank you for uploading such a thought provoking and well-written poem. As I saw the verses in their entirety, I realized you were writing about refugees. This is a good way to highlight the plight of people displaced from their homes due to war. It certainly got me thinking about this.

Plus, there is one fact you didn't mention, the sober person of the bunch can always embarrass the ones who were drunk with their antics! It is no bad thing to be sober all of the time. I don't imbibe alcohol by choice, plus I promised my dad I wouldn't. Still this is a very good way to state not indulging in the amber nectar all the time is a good thing!

Even though I've been here for two years now, I still appreciate the fact more experienced members have taken the time, plus possessed more patience than I have, in taking the initiative to write this.

In fact, this ex-newbie, plus learner is very grateful for items such as this one. I've placed this on my Favourites list!

Review of My Breakfast

This definitely sounds like something I would have done as a child. Well, coming from a rather large family, I'd shared the cake with my many siblings! This does bring back many great memories of the times I did have cake, just not for breakfast!

Despite the fact I am of one of the generations of the 1980's and 1990's, I am used to sending emails and using the mobile phone when I really have to, as a child I used to receive letters from penpals growing up and when I became a young woman.

There is nothing better than opening a handwritten letter from someone you know, as it shows the time and attention they made when they wrote that letter and mailed it to you. E-mail isn't better, snail mail is!

For such a short piece of fiction, this possesses rather a lot of potential. And I mean novel potential. For more than one genre, especially fantasy, paranormal, mystery or science fiction, to name a few! Your writing is very detailed and descriptive. I could even picture the dust on the old, faded foam backing. Well done.

Ooh, I remember playing these games as a youngster back in the early 1990s. Reading through this brought back some fun memories of watching my younger brothers play through the various Super Mario games Nintendo brought out over the years on the range of machines they produced.

HAPPY TIMES!

Just a point though, ever thought of putting in attacks based under water? Apart from that, no complaints!

Review of Tom's Birthday

I must say, despite having a love of reading fantasy, I also enjoy reading dystopian fiction. I stumbled across this entry when going through the Daily Read and Review.

Well done on such a fine short story. For such a short piece it is very finely crafted and plotted out. I got a sense of the world you've created rather quickly. I got the impression this story is set in the far future, when humanity has discovered interstellar travel and vacated a ecologically ruined Earth.

This has the potential to be a great novel as there is a lot to be explained and explored. If you ever decide to expand this, drop me an email. I'd be glad to read it if you ever do!

Review of humidity
Rated: 13+ | (5.0)
You've perfectly described a typical summer day over here in England! Very humid, barely able to breathe, people getting rather irritated and fervently praying for rain!

I often feel this particular mood on the way to work, even plaintively hpoing for autumn when the temperature hits over 30 C!

Well done for writing this, you craft poetry very well indeed!

Review of Disillusionment
Rated: E | (5.0)
Very good poem you have crafted and uploaded here on WDC for us all to read. People do possess illusions about themselves. I know I do, always thinking up some fantastical way of how I can improve myself or live a better way.

But fantasy and illusions can be shattered and real life created. Thanks for giving me the kick I needed to see through illusion and to what I could be!

This seems rather interesting. I do have to ask, what type of novel does this seem to be plotted for? A historical fiction of some sort with a hint of truth to it? If you ever do post said novel here, I'd love to read it.

Plus, thanks for the little history lesson at the end of this Octoprep piece. I enjoyed reading it!
