Honest, for the most part. Not hurtful, for the most part. In other words I'll try to be straight up but not step on you face while I'm about it. Oh, by the way, this points business confuses me. I don't want to charge for a review. If I have the points in the bank I'll refund you 900. Why I'm required to ask 1000 is past my understanding.
I'm good at...
Not much. Grammar, spelling, punctuation, most of the mechanical stuff. Good eye for composition. I read a lot and I can give you a reader's opinion. Most good reviews are a fresh eye.

I once did a story about the speed of time, complete with hokey mathematical formula for the calculations of time speed as a function of lubrication (pleasure) and drag (boredom). this piece is more serious in manner and I appreciate its intent.

The piece would have less "drag" if some attention was paid to common grammatical usage. It would be easier to read if the first word in every new sentence was capitalized. But, do as you wish, regardless of my hokey math.

Review of It's Not Personal

Well written and interesting take on the standard issue over the counter mob hit. I enjoy stories that come at a thing from an angle, some slant I haven't seen before. this piece did that and did it perfectly. The lack of remorse dovetailed with the platitude of "It is what it is."

Review of Change
Review by Dee C
Rated: E | (4.0)
Strong finish, the last line packs a punch. We only assume that it is true and there are plenty of differing opinions. There is no reason to worry about it because once it happens there is scant possibility of telling a friend. Next favorite line was the one about the space in between. That space is pretty much where I live.

Review of Jessica's Cloud
Review by Dee C
Rated: E | (4.5)
Sweet sentiment Grandmother worthy. So fortunate that when the magical cloud appeared the camera was at hand. Most of my poetic moments, those magical appearances of the near mystic were the times when no way to record was at hand. Readers must take most of the beauty of poetry on the word of the poet.

Amazingly torrid that oil water mix of white hot passion and icy hatred, Possibly the best love (lust) hate juxtaposition I've read. The guilty nature of pleasure is writ large in this chapter and a reader can only hope the chapter sans so much sex is harbinger of drama yet to come.

Review of Broken House

Super sweet and just a touch of scary to spice the thing up. As the sun went down and the fire blazed up the stairs began to creak, the cure? A proposal of course. Now do you think the stair creaker should be toting a John Deere or a Poulan chainsaw?

probably needs a little sex to make it believable. All this platonic stuff is for eighteenth century writers. Seriously, this is seriously hot stuff and marketable with a capital M. I thought she was going to bite, but you can't have everything, can you?

Such a simple thing, a simple question , "Can you see me?" Simple question with complex answers. I suppose every lover or ex-lover has posed this question from time to time. I should smile not time to time, every time. Thank you for sharing this.

I hope this contest entry of days past was received favorably; it seems you put a great deal of thought into its creation. I imagine, I've never tried it, using the issued words of the prompt may lead to a lesser poem. This was not so in your case the poem was super. thank you for sharing.

Well, that's not the way I heard it but I wasn't there either and neither was the fellow who told me. So, your version is absolutely as good as anyone else's, regardless of degrees and accolades. I do disagree with George Burns about the avocado. I would hate to have to make guacamole from a thing like a pomegranate. Possibly God simply spared me the tedium.

I too like spaghetti although I have absolutely no idea on which day God created it. I suspect it may have been on the evening of the day he created Eve. Just helping her out a bit, because I'm sure Adam's first words to her were "What's for dinner?"

Thirteen poems? No problem whatsoever, at least not for me, if you count the revisions as poetry I mean. Actually I have reams of unrecycled poetry paper, unfortunately my parakeet died and I no longer need it, undigested sonnet the vet said, but I keep it against the day I may but another bird or need to wrap some fresh fish.

I wonder just how effective this exercise will be? A diary of the future; what a concept. Or conceit, conceit in the literary sense as a device I mean to type, but will it be a device like my cell phone complicated and obtuse. I understand your exercise perfectly and good luck with all your good intentions, I have paved a lot of walkways and runaways with those.

Review of Tired

Absolutely and fantastically true. The bona fide facts of the matter laid bare. Somehow I really think a good lung full of screams is better for the environment than all those salty tears. Ah, what do I know? I can't remember the last time I had a teary moment.

But something helpful: "You claim your the Queen" Check out that third word.

Gee, it has a nice beat and you can dance to it. I give it several stars, Dick and yeah all the kids love Bandstand.

So when we think there's not thing left to write about we look at the pen, keyboard, pencil, chisel, crayon or scrap of charcoal and say oh yes, we can write about writing.

Well now what's left to write about?

Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for the notes. It is a pity I will have forgotten them by breakfast. No reflection on your fine note by lunch I will have forgotten breakfast. I think I will, at least for a time remember the poem , Aubade or marmalade no matter, the dance will go on a while, possibly until supper. Who knows?

What a great letter you wrote. I love it. My daughter is all grown up now, and I miss the little girl who danced with me in the grocery store aisles. But, lucky me I have the memory and the experience of having done a foolish thing that turned out to be wisdom in disguise.

Thanks for sharing and good luck with the contest. I hope you come in second.

Thank you for reminding us all that the grandparents of this world are so often the ones who save the children of the world. We all owe a great deal to our grandparents, but some of us owe everything including our lives. Thank you for sharing this with all of us.

Review of Going Home

There is a tendency among writers that every story that is not absolutely realistic has to be absolutely bizarre. I think that is because it is difficult to be restrained enough to write a story that trusts to the intelligence and, let's say, affability of the reader. This story walked that line and perfectly so, no bobbles at all.

The essay states: " The ungenuine information inforced by educatet dictatorial pigs leads to complete chaos."

Suggestion: The propaganda put forth by the educated dictatorial pigs...

Omit: prejudgementally

The essay states; " It means that their form of education can be completly related to the idea that rotten educational system crashes every society."

This could be stated more economically as : A rotten educational system crashes the society it was meant to serve.

Educatet > educated
Ungenuine> false
Completly > completely
Wich> which

I guess it was inevitable that our gizmos would take over our lives. This story made me nostalgic for dial phones that had the innovative feature of a curly cord. I miss percolators that took some skill in measuring before they yielded that perfect cup od coffee. Roombas? never! Give me the big old lug around Electrolux with the chrome ski runners and no wheels.

Review of In Dreams
Review by Dee C
Rated: 18+ | N/A (Review only item.)
When I grow up I want to write like Max Griffin... There's the first line of a good story.
Not as good as this one I 'll wager because this was the example for want- to- be writers.
Grammatically perfect, well formatted, elegantly structured and lotsa other adverbs are descriptive of this piece. I appreciated the way the scene was made visual for the reader.

This came to my attention through the "read&review" feature.

Five stars even though you aren't counting.

Charming story that educated me about a few things. I have read a number of fictional pieces that center on India and to a lesser extent Pakistan. I have an advantage in this as I worked for a few years with a man from Pakistan and he told me a few things about his country and culture.
Thanks for sharing. the character of the rash young suitor was well drawn and he felt my sympathy throughout.

A prayer in the manner of the old testament psalms. Not something you see every day. I wonder if "remember" is the exact right word, but The choice is yours to make. I do think ," I remember the strive," is not above editing. It is a poem /prayer of celebration more that memory. Thanks for sharing.

Well I never imagined the hero of the tale to be the evil king. Although this reimagining of the tale is excellent you leave me hanging as to the eventual fate of Scheherazade. now you can't leave such a cliffhanger languishing in your portfolio. Get busy and gin up a happy, or at least interesting resolution for our girl.
