Mississippi 1969,
racial injustice
is still alive,

“Stolen Heritage”

On a lonely night in Mississippi
the river of blues on my mind.
I woke the ragged black man
waiting the train to nowhere
with sad words in a song.

Capturing slaves of old
hidden on timber ships
sailing away from Africa.
Drumbeats their farewell
heading for slavery to die,

the white man’s puppets
beaten strung to this tree,
our voices praised to God
mercy songs on our knees
with angels singing hymns.

On this heavenly railroad
no more tears to cry why
our heritage stolen there,
lazy black nigger music
dancing in cotton fields.

Oh! Mississippi Delta
such fields that holler
with the memories,
to curse the owner
drunk on whiskey,

with his raping
the baby aborted
silence for a moment,
buried in a lonely grave
her mother singing a lullaby.

When we rise in the morning
the dew drops on the grass,
her dainty feet the memory
a grassy glade for a grave,
we wake your new life.


Note!
The first six stanzas represent a saw blade,
sharp like the terror for the black folk.
The last stanza to wake life anew.
