Great sampling of how words can really bring out a story, a poem. This is where I struggle; searching for the right word. It is easier to come up with words now than years ago we most likely had to go to the library to find what we were looking for.

Pictures make a big difference, if only used to stimulate the brain. Sure do appreciate all of your "help" tools that you provide on your site.

Blessings,

Nice poem. I think most of us can relate to a door that talks back, ha, ha!

Creaking floors trod by generations is a great phrase. If those floors could talk.

Fun read,

Great story. It just tells us that Life a be a bitch! Or, life is not always fair. In any case, it was a fun read.

Very nicely described of the love and unity of a family. Hard to find that in this day and age.

Family baking brings you together! Wonderful way to share time with each other. Good food, good hearts!

Thanks for sharing,

Beautifully written. It is true that what seems to be on the surface, it seldom is. I read your bio first and then picked one of your writings (with a ribbon), which lead me here. I am glad I stopped by.

It is always refreshing to read a writer who isn't afraid to share the innerself. I am sorry for your hurts but I also know we grow, even in our hurts, we grow. The "they" in your Alone in Holy Places, I would guess is of the "church". I have been there. I often wondered to myself, how can I been in a place where people seem friendly, caring but still I feel all alone. Is it that people become complacent?

I will be reading some of your other writes. Thanks for be you,

Seabreeze

How cool is this! I love the theme, the alphabet breakdown of a writing buddy. Great tribute to a friend. And, if you ever have a tiff, just come back and review why you two care for each other.

Wonderfully read,

This is a cute story and a unique concept. You have done extremely well in describing her and what she was feeling as she grew. Her walking amoung things, expecially with a train coming makes for an exciting story. I can see this becoming a longer short or even a novel, maybe taking her back to a classroom setting and on....

Great job, and welcome Newbie!

Heavy read as my heart went out to you. I am glad you decided to come to Writing.com and use this platform to express your feelings in writing.

A lot of emotion in your story. Some I could relate to as I was very shy from childhood thru a lot of my adulthood. Life was a struggle at many time. I tried to journal but was never consistent so I didn't have anything anyone would want to read. So sorry you never had the privacy that you needed.

You have a talent, keep it going. I wish you the best in all that you do. You are special, we all are. Because there is no one like you or like me. Isn't that amazing when we think about it. You will do special things.

Thanks for sharing from your heart.

How cool is this? Great story of a family memory. And to have the actual gift so that you can recall the memory over and over; not to many of us have that. It reminded me of something that happened to me when I was a teenager. My grandfather had ask if he could have something that I made. I was thrilled. I had made a picture of a bird using various color thread. I never dream he caried about those things. I did not live close to my grandparents so I do not know what happened to it.

Thank you for sharing such a heart felt experience.

Wonderful description of this amazing library where jewels are housed. Just knocking with the lion's ring normally would shout out a "be aware of this place" to me. I guess I have seen to many scarry movies. And, even to this day with the internet, I still love libraries. You have set the scene well.

There is suspense as our character enters the sanctum (as I visualize it). I am thinking, is it safe? But once in, he lays his eyes on the abundance of books availble to him. What he is looking for must be there. Your description of a crackling fire, musty smell of antique paper resonates with me. I have experience this before when I was younger visiting a friend of my mothers.

Oak and Roses, how curious. I get the feeling this individual is looking for potions or magic spells. Or may the secrets to life itself.

Thanks for my adventure,

Seabreeze

And, I hear it as well through your poem. You have described America well in this poem. I could feel the beat of her; I could imagine the smells, hear the noises and see the images dance through my head. Excellent job,

Lovely! Blessings to you for writing it. We are truly blessed in this country to have the freedom to worship.

What attracted me to your story was Psalm posting. I have been doing a daily reading and analysis of my own and writing about it. It keeps me in the bible and in my writing. This is a promise I made to myself, to read and analyze the book of Psalms for the year, which I started just before January of this year.

Always a pleasure to meet another believer,

Oh how cute! I love your story and very refreshing to read. I also love to watch birds and they can carry large pieces of material for nest building.

Well written and you caught me off guard with the ending.

This is such a wonderful way of presenting Jesus for those who may not know how He loves us. Excellent dialogue, well present, excellent punctuation and to the point of our savior's love for us. I enjoyed reading it!

The haibun is a style I am not familiar with - so I will have to study to know more. I like what you wrote and I noticed you did so in 2003. It seems as if it was yesterday when reading it. Nations are built with both good and bad input. In this last administration, it seem to be more bad than good. But to grow as a nation, I believe we need to go through both, see the ugly before we appreciate the good.

Is it just human nature that we all can't get along? We are not the most perfect nation but we have done a lot of good. Sometimes we lose focus. More people need to be concern about their country. I am a believer and believe the only perfect place will be when Christ returns.

Thanks for your writings. I hope to read more and undeerstand the art style.

Welcome newbie,

Interesting story you have written. I do have a couple of suggestions. It would be a better read if you separate your sentences and paragraphs for a better experience to the reader. When everything runs together, it isn't that rewarding to read.

I hope to see more of your creations,

Blessings,

Very cute short story. Maybe you will build on it. I would like to know what happens next.

It has suspense and who doesn't like a troll. It flows well, and only one type - havee should be have (eight sentence down).

Fun to read, thanks.

Hi Julie D.,

Welcome. I admire anyone who can face their obsticules and are willing to work on them. Some of us seem to get blessed (might as well make it possitive, got to live with it) with various health issues, others traits - they are hard to handle. But, if we can be true to ourselves, admit we have them, it is easier to move foward.

This writing you have done is very good. Keep adding to it as time gives you. Don't stop. You can do it.

I be by now and then to read any creations you have added. Tell us more about yourself.

Thanks,

Seabreeze

Review of Wearing Hats  Open in new Window.

Wearing Hats resonates with me. I love hats and they replace, to me, the love of shoes. I own maybe 3 pairs. Hats, I have loss count.

Your poem has all of the attributes about hats. It has the flash, the tasteful, pizzazz! All the things that would describe the charm of hat wearers. It has statement, and your phrase of "Display the social attractiveness, visability, and trueness..." ways it all.

Great prose poem,

Yes, memory can be used a lot to get better control on our language. This example is similar to how I have remembered which one means excessive. I told myself that the too word is excessive because it has two "o"s.

And then there is, I before e except after c, which doesn't seem to get utilized enough in spelling words.

These snippets are very handy and could be used with flash cards to help children learn.

Thanks,
Seabreeze

I like this flash fiction. Great story. I, like most, thought that this is probably a very young, scared person. In fact, reminded me of myself years back when I was shy.

You kept me in suspense, wondering what the character would do.

Cool surprise ending. And maybe it could be true for someone.

Review of Willy's Accident  Open in new Window.
Review by Seabreeze Author IconMail Icon

Truly a fascinating story. I am a believer but I must say I have never meant anyone who is or claims to be a person who has such abilities to truly feel other people's feelings or thoughts. But God is always surprising me, so many this is one of those surprises. My son and an experience once that has never reoccurred again. So not sure what to call it. He had a female friend, my high school, who it kept in touch mostly by email, phone calls. He ran into her again and he told her that he had a strong feeling that she needed to check in with a doctor. He kept insisting that she should do this and he could not tell her why but that he wish she would. She did go to a doctor and come to find out she had a tumor, located of all places in the nasal area. I forget any other details but just that story.

We know God works in mysterious ways, not really, but His ways. I do believe he uses people, causes them to interact for the better of His outcomes. We are here on his earth for his pleasure and this, I believe, is part of his greater plan.

So I don't forget, I ran into not sure if they were typos (nothing major), and in one area a sentence, a comment something to the effect...."My name was Ken." Could you explain that?

Thanks for sharing and I will followup on the rest of your postings.

Enjoyed reading your Dear Me, 2025. I wrote one as well. I believe it does help us to stay focused, to inspire us to get it done! I had to stop by to see what others write to themselves. We can do it! It is a good letter and I have faith you will finish a novel this year! Keep up the good work.
