Breakup texts. Apart from those, what bugs me more than anything else is confusion of it's/its, there/their/they're, your/you're, etc. (oh, and also when someone spells that "ect.") Those are so mind-numbingly simple to understand that I figure anyone who still messes them up is doing it on purpose just to annoy grammar nerds like me. And that's worse. I do understand making the occasional error. Everyone makes mistakes. Waltz's First Law of the Internet states that any post criticizing someone's spelling, grammar, or punctuation is certain to have spelling, grammar, or punctuation errors. But when it's consistent, I make assumptions about the writer's intelligence that, admittedly, are not flattering. |
