         Bought a Eucalyptus plant today... afterward I read the little card that tells you how to take care of them. That was my first mistake. I live in an apartment. They are to be planted in the ground and can grow up to 40 feet tall. I'm going to ask my landlord for permission to plant it in the ground. I have the perfect area in mind.

         Besides all of that nonsense, my daughter passed out at work last night. She was in a patient's room taking vitals when she began to feel faint. She went to the restroom and completely passed out while using the toilet --- landed on her face and was out a good seven minutes. Her nose was swollen, cut and bleeding after the incident. Her chin is bruised and she has a fat blue lip. She told me it has been very hot on their floor in many of the rooms --- the patients are complaining, asking for fans and such --- everytime she or someone else mentions the heat, they're told the thermostat is as low as it will go. (Did they ever think maybe they need a new unit/units?) I called the hospital and was passed to at least four people before I finally spoke with a guy in Safety who promised to get to the bottom of it. According to the man in maintenance, they had received no reports of an air conditioning problem... I told the fellow that if they don't care about their employees, they should at least care about their patients. She works on the most critical floor of the hospital --- a place where some nurses refuse to work. I threatened if this happens again or if anything untoward happens to my daughter due to their negligence, I will sue their pants off. Gave them my name and told them I work in a law office fully equipped to handle any such problem. I am sure that I went way overboard, but by the time I was passed around four times, as if nobody knew what to do with the call, my frustration level began to rise. I had to wonder, Does anyone really know what they're doing at that hospital?

         Once I actually saw my daughter, I was a bit relieved. As a mom, the worst case scenario tends to run through your mind. I was dreading seeing how bad she looked, imagining the worst. I was thankful. I told her not to lean over unless she absolutely had to or she could end up with two black eyes. Her nose is swollen to twice its size. She has a cut between her eye and nose. I'm starting to repeat myself...

         Good-bye for now. Did you know how "good-bye" originated? (It was a question on Jeopardy the other night.) It originated from "obey God." That's how, apparently, the early Christians said good-bye ---- they said "obey God." I can't think of a more appropriate way to say farewell. Obey God.

         Hi. I trust everyone is well. I have telephone duty today at the office, meaning I fill in for our receptionist when she takes a break or goes to lunch. So, I am updating my "blog."

         I want to warn everyone who hasn't been to the airport lately. Often your gate assignment is printed wrong on your boarding pass and even if it shows that it's correct on the airport flight monitor; once you get to the gate, your gate may have changed. This can cause you to miss your plane if you are unaware. I've never had this problem before, but it happened at Tampa International and at the Atlanta airport on my recent trip to visit family in Alabama. If no one is at your gate to greet/help you when you arrive and your flight is not showing on the gate monitor, go to the nearest counter for your airline, which should be nearby. (There is a main gate for Delta at Tampa Int'l. once you've past through security and are in the gate area.) If I hadn't been helped by some passengers while at the wrong gate, I wouldn't have known what to do since they had no one at the gate available to help/greet anyone.

         Also, they charge you now for your luggage. If you have a trip with two legs, you'll be charged double --- once for each airport. I paid a total of $15.00 to check one bag on my trip out and again going home --- since the trip had two legs each way.

         You can now check your bag online if traveling through Delta, which will save you time. You can leave your bag with the attendant outside of the airport at the "Delta" entrance, which will save you some grief since most kiosks (I have encountered) are not user-friendly and often there are not enough attendants behind the counter to help you. Everything is "self-help," like at most gas stations.

         If this helps one person, it was worth putting out there.

         Have a great day and may you glide through the remainder of your week with enough energy to get your job done and enough friendliness to make you a joy to your co-workers! Take care.

         Vacation is over. I've started my laundry and then I'm off to the gym. Looking forward to a decent work week. (If behind, I intend to work over when necessary.)

         I am looking forward to reviewing others' work this afternoon. (I really haven't done much in that vein this month.)

         Have a great week. Life awaits you. May you have a wonderful, exciting, challenging and productive week.

         ...one more day. Tomorrow I'll move from 50 to 51. This year was exciting, fun, sad, terrific, scary at times, deliciously revealing. I was talking to a lady I work with yesterday. She was sharing how the fifties are so liberating --- you say what you mean, mean what you say, and sometimes even know when to keep your big mouth shut. (I have a hard time with that last one.) (Proverbs 15:23; Proverbs 25:11) =)

         ...and one of my favorite passages -- Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

          To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
          A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what which is planted;
          A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
          A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
          A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
          A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
          A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
          A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

         May this year be a year of new revelations. God-speed.

         Here's to a great Saturday! Fare thee well.

         The invasion of Normandy --- June 6, 1944.

         America (USA): a friend to the right of freedom to all nations; a friend to the Jewish people; a friend to true Christians who were sent to concentration camps for merely hiding and harboring the Jewish people.

         God bless America! Flag day is coming up soon; so, get 'em ready to fly ---- June 14 ---- my birthday.

         Since I'm on vacation all next week, I've been working my lunch hour straight on through. Tonight, I didn't get out of there until 6pm.

         I've got so much stuff piled on my desk that whatever I do seems to only make a small dent.

         I can't wait to get on that airplane and fly out of here!

         I hope you all have a great week. (Sh... My birthday is Sunday.)

Sunday, June 7, 2009 --- 7 more days!

         Why do I get so excited about my birthday? Because it reminds me that God loves me and He picked a very special day for me to be born. I celebrate my own birth...

         My daughter is the same way... Maybe it runs in the family. =)

         I hope each and every one of you has a fabulous restful and peaceful Sunday! God Bless, you, one and all!

Friday, June 5, 2009 - Finally!

         I'm so glad it's Friday, but I will be working this weekend... by choice. I need to get my filing caught up. It's really starting to scare me. Also, maybe I can get a few of those things done that have been pending on my desk ---- set aside for other priorities. However, I will not miss yoga, a work out at the gym, and stopping by to visit my daughter, son-in-law and grandsons!

         I hope everyone has a nice Friday and a spectacular weekend! Until later, take care...

         Phone duty today at the office. We take turns relieving our receptionist for breaks and from 1pm to 2pm (her lunch hour).

         I'll be on vacation, visiting my parents and one of my sister's and her family in Daphne, Alabama from 6-15-09 to 6-20-09. My birthday is on 6-14 (Flag Day here in the USA); so, I always plan a trip to visit my parents right around this time every year.

         My sister will be in a triathelon near Pensacola the day I depart. So, I'm hoping to see her in action before catching my flight back home.

         To say the least, I am looking forward to a little time off.

         Have a great week!
