~ The Writing On The Wall ~
April 6, 2022 at 9:36pm
~ The Writing On The Wall ~ I am trying to make changes in how I deal with food. Why? Because I can see the writing on the wall. As a diabetic, I face so many potential losses if I don't make better and consistent choices. I can lose my sight, my legs, my kidneys and so much more. My food choices need to be reined in so I can prevent or delay the onset of more problems. Also, I do not want food and appetite to be my god. There is only one who deserves to be on the throne in my ... [Read more]

Best Birthday
March 9, 2022 at 3:47pm
My best birthday present was given to me on my 65th birthday. I had decided to spend the day alone with God. I awakened that day with a pervading sense of peace and contentment. It was as though it was God's gift to me that day. This gift extended beyond my birthday. The wonderful sense of peace lasted undisturbed for over a month. Then a family situation ruffled it. However, I was able to realize I could still have that peace in spite of the stuff going on around me. I was able t... [Read more]

Writing.Com(munity) As the title of my review indicates, Writing.Com is more than just a writing website, it is a community—a community of writers. A huge positive aspect of the site is its leader: the StoryMaster. I was amazed when I first joined that the owner was available to personally answer my questions. The StoryMaster monitors the site on a daily basis. Of course, he doesn't have to answer every question because he encourages members to help members. Under his influence, we ... [Read more]

Why Me?
July 28, 2022 at 4:42pm
Why Me? The title of this entry is "Why Me?". How many times have you said those words? I know I have cried them as I faced various problems in my life. Today, they have a very different meaing for me. In 2009, I had a thyroidectomy. I suffered a complication from that surgery which resulted in me having a disorder called hypoparathyroidism. The parathyroid glands are small kidney bean shaped glands nestled behind the thyroid. Because they share blood supply and such with the... [Read more]
Welcome to An Ordinary Life
December 3, 2018 at 2:21pm
"Welcome to An Ordinary Life" Those words greet me every time I open my blog. I don't really remember making the decision to use those words at the top of this item but I do remember the day they made an impression on me. I spent the month of November 2016 at a retreat center in Arkansas. I was writing 50,000 words that month -- actually 53,715 -- for NanoWrimo. I had opted to go off by myself and focus on writing about a very painful time of my life. I spent most of the ... [Read more]
A Dear Me thought...
December 18, 2018 at 8:55am
Dear Me, Life is not always smooth-sailing. Too often the seas of life are rocky. Sometimes there are tsunamis. Are you ready for the storms this new year will bring? How can we be ready? Well, the Bible tells us that the heart staid on God is in perfect peace. God holds the key to peace in the midst of the storm. It's not too late. It's not to late to be happy. It's not too late to find success.  It's the beginning of a new year. These markers tend to cause us... [Read more]
Intimacy with God
June 18, 2016 at 11:50am
Do you want intimacy with God? I do. I want intimacy with God more than I want anything else. It is the MOST important thing in my life. Sometimes just wanting something isn't enough. We get side-tracked and distracted. We don't really live according to what we value most. We need to remind ourselves. I need to remind myself every day my relationship with God is the most important thing in my life. I need to choose TODAY to be mindful of my desire to commune with God.... [Read more]
Smile, It Releases Endorphins...
December 3, 2016 at 1:52am
One night, I was looking in the mirror. I noticed my smile turned down instead of up so I tried to make my smile into a smiley face. As I tried and tried, I burst into laughter. Smiling releases endorphins. I have made it a regular part of my life. I do not pretend to be happy. I simply put my facial muscles in the shape of a smile on a regular basis. It changed my life. Try it. Smile at yourself in the mirror for 10 minutes. See what happens. ~ ~ ~ JESUS is LOR... [Read more]
--- Number 1 ---
May 27, 2016 at 11:40am
Who is Number 1 in your life? Are you the boss of your life? In a sense you are but are you the most qualified for the position? Perhaps not. In Proverbs it says, Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones. Seek 1 st... [Read more]
An Excerpt from "Make Your Dreams Come True..."
May 18, 2016 at 3:55pm
An excerpt from: There will always be obstacles to overcome. Life tends to be a series of problems to be solved. When you encounter an obstacle, do not stop! You are almost there. Overcoming obstacles is a vital key in making dreams come true. When the direct route is blocked, you must either move the roadblock, go around it or push through it. Even if all you can manage is something that seems insignificant, be diligent in doing something! Taking even the smallest action every day will bri... [Read more]

Procrastination...
March 16, 2016 at 12:59pm
Procrastination - Procrastination is one of the hardest habits to break. The moment you decide to tackle it, the thought comes, "first thing tomorrow". Procrastination should be called the big P because like the big C (cancer) it can eat away at our plans and potential until nothing remains but a wasted moment, a wasted day, a wasted life. Opportunities can be lost forever because they were not acted upon in a timely manner. Stop procrastinating. Act NOW! ... [Read more]
How to make changes...
November 30, 2018 at 3:18pm
If I could change myself, I would not need a Savior. I John 1:9 tells me that if I will confess my sins to Him, God will cleanse me of all unrighteousness. What is sin? What is unrighteousness? For me, sin is anything outside God's will for me. These days, as I deal with my relationship with food, I believe God is prompting me to eat mindfully -- versus watching a video while I eat and other such things. If that is what God wants for me today and I do otherwise, I choose to count... [Read more]
Forgiveness
November 30, 2018 at 3:22pm
Forgiveness My morning blurb this morning is going to be about forgiveness. I am blessed to be able to forgive. I remember the exact moment I realized that. As a child, the importance of forgiving others was made known to me through the Bible story about the rich man who forgave a debt. The debtor then went out and, instead of paying it forward as we say today, demanded full repayment of a debt owed him. The rich man heard of it and the once forgiven man was chastised. As Jesus tol... [Read more]
Reminiscing...
November 30, 2018 at 3:26pm
I had an interesting experience once: My life flashed before my eyes. Actually, it was like clicking through scenes from my life with one of those old timey view-master toys. When I tell folks this, for some reason they immediately tend to think I saw all the bad things I ever did. That was not the case at all. Mostly, I saw lots and lots and lots of mundane scenes: brushing my teeth, folding laundry, the kind of things we do quite often. As I reminisce, I need to sift through and pic... [Read more]

°°° °°° December 8, 2015 This morning I am going to tell about an experience I had at Logos Ministries in Morton, Illinois years and years ago. I don't remember what was preached that day. What I remember was my response to the invitation that day and what happened after that. The sermon probably played a role in all this but the events leading up to my responding the way I did are now forgotten. The result is what I remember. When the preacher gave the invitation that... °°° °°° December 7, 2015 "Whatever you ask in My Name..." I can remember the first time this verse jumped off the page for me. I remember how amazed I was by these words. I was very excited! I was in Sunday School at that moment. I motioned for my Sunday School teacher to come to my side. I excitedly pointed to the verse and asked, "What does this mean?" It was such an amazing promise, I could hardly believe it. Her answer baffles me to this day: "It... [Read more]
God, Please change my relationship with food.
May 19, 2024 at 6:16am
This entry was originally created on : Dec 3, 2015 at 10:48am. I prayed this today: God, Please change my relationship with food. After those words were spoken, I began to eat my breakfast and a thought came: "When you eat, eat." It isn't a new idea but, if I act on it, it will be a new behavior for me. I usually eat while doing something else - watching tv or a video, listening to tv or an audio-book, attempting to read - There had been at least once in my pa... [Read more]

Healing my hurt after my husband's infidelity: When I had this experience, my husband and I had reconciled after he had been with another woman. He and I are no longer together but the lesson is still with me. I was tortured by thoughts of him having been with the other woman. I prayed and asked God to heal this memory. God had healed other memories for me by helping me to understand things from the other person's viewpoint. I told God I did not want that kind of healing this time... [Read more]
Speaking In Tongues
May 27, 2015 at 5:12pm
ROUGH DRAFT Speaking In Tongues Let me tell you a little about my personal experience speaking in tongues. It started in Florida in 1975. I was living in Cocoa, Florida and my sweetheart was living in Beaufort, South Carolina. We exchanged letters. He wrote professing his love for me as well as sharing the news. One day as I was headed out the door to work, the mailman arrived with another love letter from my beau. I grab the treasured letter and stuck it in my pocket. I could h... [Read more]
My Amazing Healing...
June 10, 2016 at 5:45pm
NOTE: This entry was created using voice-to-text and is currently being edited. It was the last Sunday in May 2014. I was drained, emotionally drained. I hungered for the good old laying-on-of-hands kind of praying. Pentecostal praying. There was a little church close by. It was a small United Pentecostal church. I had never visited it before but my hunger for prayer -- my desire for someone to minister to me in the laying-on-of-hands Pentecostal kind of praying -- prompted me to visit th... [Read more]
