Part of growing up is getting our first car. Now, admittedly, it might not be in the best shape but it is needed. It could even be looked as if it were a status symbol of sorts.

Well, in this case the car breaks down and now comes the need to make it to school. Hitch hiking is one way to get there. Walking is another. Main thing is don't be late.

This is good. This is really good. It should make people think about our society. So fast paced and no one gives a flying flip about anything that use to matter.

Here a man describes his regret for never knowing how his father felt the sense of accomplishment in his time. Sure our author is contributing to society and teaching young people is rewarding.

He however would like to get back to basics for a short time. Be grateful for the small things. We all should remember how precious things use to be. Now, everything and anything can be replaced.

Imagine praying for rain. Not to grow the flowers but for the very survival of your family. The crops need rain to grow and that allows money to come to the family. Farmers still feed us and work hard for us. Think of them sometimes. Maybe even pray for them sometimes. A hardy bunch with hearts of gold is what my grandpa use to say. A mans word is his bond.

What do you do when you put so much into a relationship and have the other person just throw it all away.

When you invest so much of yourself and try to live up to the expectations of the partner; it becomes draining. Then to find out that isn't good enough either. How can one get over that feeling? That total rejection after putting your whole heart into making the other person happy. Forget about your happiness because you put to much on the other person to make them happy. Basically the harder you try the harder and more demands are made.

Before too long it becomes a control issue.
Then comes your self esteem beat down in a dark pit.
So now, the abused person begins to think that this treatment is all they deserve. This horrible emotional draining person is in charge of your every move.

The hurt is still there along with the tears. Breaking free won't be easy but it might save the you inside.

She had an air about her, this mistress of the house. Our character had to clean, while the mistress was about.
Perhaps a bit intimidated by her presence. She is a queen in her own right. With an independent air; yet needing constant attention.

A man tells stories to a youngster about fighting in ditches in the war. There was turtle ditch monster patrolling.

Well by the time the story is told to other kids by the first kid; it turns out that the
Mutant Ninja Turtles became the road to fame and moved to America.

One can't help but smile at this.

Here the author gives the road a voice. It is always there for each of us. Some of us might be a bit angry at the road cause there is a bump that might cause us to fall. Then there are those that go along that road and know there is no turning back.

The road is there each step or our lives and possibly knows more about us than we do ourselves. The road makes no promises. It also brings us to the point in the road where we must decide whether to change our direction.

So, after learning all this, do we respect this road of life? To we cherish it for leading us along? Do we have the courage to keep going? At the end of that road; we have much to look forward to.

Now this one is in the bad folder as well. I can't help but think about the character depicted here.
We have all run into those people that don't get out much and once they have a listening ear, they won't stop talking.

Our reaction is quietly thinking to ourselves 'will you please just shut up for a minute' ha.

This person goes on and on and on.
She moves from rain, to flowers colors, to stomach medicine and it's smell, to perfume, crying, an finally an umbrella with a ruffle that brings on happiness.

Sometimes people get depressed but they can't quite put a name to it at first. Suddenly they don't feel like themselves. Their interests might be lagging. No desire to go anywhere or do any thing.

After you remain in that funk for a long time; it begins to feel like you are trapped and can't get out.

Falling deeper and deeper into the pit of despair of loosing ones self is frightening.

One will look around and see darkness and wonder where did the light go and why 'me'?

Well at the end of this piece; our character can still see a bit of light. She's a fighter and will fight her way back to 'her'.

Love the title.

Our society thinks of the grocery store when they need something. They might buy a bag of frozen corn but rarely think of what is involved in making it ready for the consumer.

In this piece,however,its field fresh corn processed by regular people to keep their freezer full. Real fresh corn. Man, just think of it and the smell when it's cooking. Then the butter melting, dripping. Messy fingers and mouths. Even a bit on the chin but boy what a treat.

Addiction is the topic of this piece. A man explains how, in the beginning, it seemed like a friend. Something to help ease the pain of everyday life. At times the feeling of being numb was a good idea. Well as time went by he became more and more addicted.
For a while he thought he could handle this situation.
Unfortunately it isn't that easy. Part of him thinks he can beat it and the other knows he can't. After a while he surrenders completely to the constant need of being high.
When his mind might be a bit clear; he doesn't like what he has become.
He knows he is too far gone now.
Hopefully he will get some professional help.
Fight his way back.
Find his life again.

A woman has a very scary night. She wakes to a racing heart and faintness.
So she does what she should she tries to reach for help. Well she can only get an appointment a few days later. Then test are run in the doctors office. Then she must wait for some blood results.
Meanwhile this woman goes home and waits and hopes it doesn't happen again.

{Just my opinion}
She should have been admitted and monitored. It sounds like arrhythmia and that's nothing to put off. They could have kept her safely in the hospital until all the mystery was solved. Letting her go home to uncertainty is neglect as far as I am concerned. I for one know about neglect and being treated like 'no big deal'

Our author writes about his gift to express his misery and have it reach the reader. As the piece goes on, it almost appears as if they are a unit. He must make them understand the pain and they must avoid it happening to them. He has no intention of hurting them deep inside but he needs to show them how hurt he is inside.

Considering how difficult this is, one can't help but wonder when will his misery end? When will it all come falling out of his heart and be exposed to the world?

He knows when he is finally at peace and at rest; God will not expect anything from him. He will finally feel no pain of misery. This heaven waiting for him, might seem far. To him it is close enough to dream.

It was a hard winter and the parents had to do everything possible to take care of their babies. The mom cuddled the babies and the dad fed the fire. The temp outside was deadly for some but this family used courage and faith to make it through.

Some can relate to being snowed in like that.

Here we have a girl who is trying to figure out what to do by using some self talk. She is trying to find a job but isn't putting a good foot forward. She has dreams like we all do but she needs to learn you have to work for those dreams.
She admits she is having a pity party and feeling sorry for herself.
Tomorrow is another day and think positive thoughts.
Find the real you hiding inside and put that negative Nelly attitude in retirement.

Get up get going and learn how far you can fly.
You can do it.

She is old and her mind is going. She suffers pain and describes it as being inflicted on her by demons inside her head at night.
Her grand daughter sits with her and tries to comfort her. Sometimes her grandmother gets out of sorts and won't listen.
The young girls still stays by her side and doing what she can.
It's hard watching an elderly person slip away as in this case.
Granted it is fantasy but it is also rings true to an extent.
Family members find themselves trying to comfort the aging.

It's not a bit unusual for a country boy to want to ride in the rodeo. They watch from the stands and think it looks so cool and like the way the girls scream at the riders.
It is just par for the course that there will be some bumps and bruises along the way. It takes years for the cowboy to make a name for himself.
They usually want the silver belt for the longest ride.
In our piece we have a boy wanting things a bit different. It wants to be a clown. He wants to really mix it up but his dad is afraid for him.
Those clowns are real athletes and physically fit. Imagine running and dogging a great bit bull to get the bulls attention to save the rider.

Here we have a young woman taken in by a guy she really liked. He had a problem with drugs and she tried to overlook it. She might have made excuses for him when he wasn't kind to her. To her he was a drug. She soon found that he wasn't good for her as with any other drug. She fought her way back and moved on. She still remembers him and what they might have had.

He is probably still stuck right where he was. With his type of drug there is no quick fix. Soon, as is the pattern, all the people that once cared become lost to him.

A couple have gone their separate ways. One is remembering the different emotions that occurred. There was hope, trust, security, love, and a seemingly never ending source of dreams that came true.

Now comes the realization that it was all talk. Apparently she ran into a player. After finding out her vulnerable side; used it to control the events that followed.

When finish with the game comes goodbye.
Knowing she has it bad just make the game more fun. Who will be the next unsuspecting victim?

Here we have a mother thinking about her children from years gone by. How quickly they grow. A message comes with this piece. Cherish them today for they will be grown and gone tomorrow. She watches out the window at the next group of kids. Waiting for the buses to take them to school. All the reminders of how things use to be. Then there is a sadness that it isn't you and me.

We have to let them go you know.
To find their way to fly.
Even though they come again
we will always want to cry.

Our author takes us along on a vivid journey to a lovely place. In our minds eyes we see the lilacs and cherry blossoms. The fragrance is conducive to relaxation. The view shares the shadows of the hills and the woodland. The creatures scurry about as we walk along.
Too bad we can't linger longer but night is falling. We must leave but our author can stay and view more and more to remain in her memory always.

The setting is the beach and two very different men come in contact with each other.

One man believes in God. He feels as though the majesty of the ocean is a gift from God and through this, he feels he can commune with God.

The other thinks differently. He feels there is no God and that life is a maze. With numerous choices to make. Some will be good choices and some bad. He doesn't feel there is a God telling him what to do all the time and that he is responsible for his mistakes.
Ultimately, living life and making good choices will result in a life well lived. So when he comes to his end he takes credit and needed no help.

Interesting piece.
The word choices added well to the piece.

So basically, some feel they need a relationship with God and some don't.

Our author creates a piece for a friend. Perhaps the friend is in a bad way and needs someone to care. Someone to say just the right thing to give inspiration to keep going. A friend to bring hope on a rainy rainy day. What a blessing this is to know someone cares enough to take time to just listen.
A real friend call tell when a person is down and needs a good dose of 'hope' and never give
up.

Look around perhaps you can find someone in need. Offer a smile or two or a listening ear.
