The author brings us a piece about family fun at the beach. The kids are playing. The kites are flying. The sandcastles waiting for the tide to come in. While all this is going on the parents can finally just lay in the sun and let the kids run about. Of course there must be some souvenirs brought home to help remember this day. Pictures, maybe just a few.
The most important part is being together. Family time and making every minute count.

A family trip turns upside down. We all know how teens have their minds in their own realm. Being on a cable car is not the time to space out. This is funny and so true to life. Reading it a parent can certainly feel for the parents. San Francisco is huge. A cable car going up one of the those hills. A father beside himself with worry as he runs.

The sad part is this isn't a little mishap but a big one. Not like the teen is wondering around in a mall.

Love the descriptions and the funny tone to the piece. This had to be real.

Our author brings us a lovely glimpse of nature. The water acts as a mirror reflecting the surrounding trees. To someone standing there it would be hard to choose which is more majestic; the real or reflection.

The descriptions are very vivid.
To someone who has only seen concrete, this must be a pleasure. It must make that person curious to see it first hand.

There is so much in nature just waiting to be enjoyed and it was gifted to us by the Master's hands.

As you read this lovely piece, picture it in your mind. Find the serenity it brings. You could even linger a bit and give your minds eye joy.

The family is there for the celebration. Grandpa falls holding his chest. The uncle tried to help but grandpa didn't make it on the ride to the hospital.
The ending came as a surprise. The grandma reacted differently than expected. Was it a type of shock? Could she have been tired of dealing with him?
Who knows?
Pretty good story for such a limited word count.

This is a very realistic piece. One that rings so true. The details of what is going on in the woman's mind are exceptional. The feeling of being in prison and no escape. The part about making up excuses for the bruises is so true. The times of hitting the floor and staying against the wall in a ball to try to avoid the rage is real. Deep inside is the desire to leave but fear holds her there. The escape has to be done just right and at the right time to avoid being caught.
So many people don't understand this horrible existence. Many do and it helps to know they aren't alone.

When you read can you feel the emotional and physical pain. It isn't a joke it's a nightmare.

Our author reminds us that poetry can do many things. We can express our emotions. It helps to comfort us when we need a friend. That's right poetry is a friend and once it makes its way into the bloodstream, so to speak, it sets us free. Sure it's not an easy craft but there is a sense of creativity we all need and want.

Once writing is in your blood it's hard to stop. You might look at it realistically and know you won't be famous but that's not what matters. It putting that pen to paper and doing something that not many people can do.

We may find ourselves tired at times with all the chaos day to day life brings. Then when you think about where we are blessed to live. This country, our country. From humble beginnings to the magnet it is even today. The dream of those coming here for a better life. The soul of our country should never be taken lightly. We should respect her, love her, protect her and cherish her.

Here we have a person living a lonely life. This choice is made by himself. Some people get knocked around more than others and after a while they begin to withdraw. The ultimate reason is to avoid more hurt. There might be some that question these actions or think they can bring the person back from the funk but it is where he feels safe.

Something happened along the way that made him not even like the own sight of himself. Someone made him hurt, really bad. Perhaps it was someone he loved and stomped on his heart. Now, left with no self worth; he wonders why anyone would want to see him, including himself.

This is a sad situation. Who could bring him back from this pit of quicksand. After all he is sinking slowly and no one is noticing.

His inspiration/raven landed on his arm and they entered the old house. Inside they began listening to the same eerie sound they had heard many other nights. Sure, they wondered. Sure, they might have searched a bit. Soon, however, the setting became a plot point for writing. He begins to write and it flows like a waterfall. When finished the bird and writer leave never to return.

Sadly, there was a reason for the pounding. Could the writer have been too caught up in his imagination to put much credence to it. The possibility to think it was coming from a explainable source was without merit.
Instead, leaving the sound to the dark world with no real explanation seemed fitting.

The author shares thoughts of how the night can cast an aura of such darkness and then fear. Night has a way of putting humans in a vulnerable state. Oh, but then comes the Sun. She slowly rises and adds light to the darkened land. It's not scary anymore but the darkness will come again.



Why not look at it like this?

The bright blessed day and the dark sacred night. After all, day or night we are never alone.

When we grow older sometimes we find ourselves remembering younger days In this piece a man walks along and finds his mind back to a special time for him. When he was having a birthday party. All the decorations and the fun put a sparkle in his eyes. It makes him happy to remember and thankful too. Many begin to loose their memories when reaching his time. It's funny how life brings us blessing that we might take for granted until we realize some aren't so fortunate.

Apparently a couple have come to a cross road. They both intend to go their separate ways. That's fine but one needs to have a last say. Realizing the character of the other person, the one with something to say has to handle this just right.

Lets say one of the two misplaced a coffee cup.
Neither want to accept responsibility hence they are breaking up. Finding a way for our speaker to put the blame on the other must be carefully hidden behind some sweet talking untrue guilt. So now, the guilty one feels a bit better and the not guilty one takes the blame but knows it's not true.

Untrue guilt----I just can't remember where I put it.
I guess it was just one of my spacey moments.


True guilt----After I have had to think clearly it just couldn't have been you. You always keep thing in their place.

Interesting piece with a bit of word double talk.

The room it was a familiar one. Many nights to share their love. Now there is betrayal lay waiting. No need to pretend. The secret is out and the evidence is felt. She won't lie but he can't believe the truth. He stays in blind illusion as the days go on and on. Will she cheat again? Can his heart stand another confession? Is his anger and hurt hidden inside and waiting merely to surface? Only time will tell.

Her grandpa just died and she has to some how deal with it.
While the grown ups go about grieving they forget she is too. Or maybe they think she is too young to understand.

So where does she go but to her comfortable place. Her room with her toys. This box is full of things that use to bring her a smile and now they only hold memories, sad memories.

Perhaps there was a special doll grandpa gave her and now the doll is lonely too.
Then she might get mad at the doll and throw it across the room. She has no way to let the pain out.

She has questions but no answers right now. She might even wonder about where grandpa is. Will he be ok? Will he remember her?

The adults must make themselves available for the child as a sense of security. If not they might wonder about losing someone else they loved.

The last thing she will do is pick up the doll and sit by the window and stare outside hoping to find any answer with tear filled eyes.

Your piece says a lot.

The author shares the feelings of a person who is near death. The person wants family to act naturally but they all are upset and already grieving. Instead of making small talk or offering some sort of distraction, they stare and wait. Like the person stopped being who they are and is now a bubble waiting to pop. Sure they don't want this to happen but neither does the sick person. The last hours shouldn't be full of premature grief. Talk about good memories and how much you love them. There will time enough for grief later.

There has been so much time wishing and hoping things were different. Now it is time to put aside those feelings and move on. One can only hold a torch for so long. There were tears and a bit of fear but still the emptiness remained. Reach down inside and find the fighter you know is there. All alone on the way west, we find the sun beginning to set. It still is warm but once the darkness descends the temperature will fall. The desert is no place to be alone and without shelter. Here we hope, along with the character, that just one more car will come by willing to give him a ride. Otherwise he might not make it to see the dawn.

The author takes us into the mind and activities of a little horse. While the people are away the horse gets into mischief. Taking time to find out what is behind the secret door. He never has been allowed in there before so now is his chance. He works hard on this task by breaking the knob and getting inside. Well, to his surprise it is the feed storage area. Well, he goes about finding something good to eat.

Naturally he gets caught by his master a little girl. She scolds him but still gives him her carrot from her pocket.

This is a cute story about a sneaky little horse and the girl that love him.

They were in an office building when they shouldn't have been. On a mission that had to be done. To their surprise they were not alone.

Talk about being at the wrong place at the wrong time. These guys are short on time or excuses.

Our author gives a thrown away puppy a voice in this piece. Left to die in the middle of no where but luckily found by some kind people. There were several of the puppies and all where taken to the vet and given medicine to feel better.
This piece gives us a puppy's eye view of cruelty in those breeding places. How the dogs are mistreated and then just thrown away. It is heartbreaking to think how someone could be that way with one of Gods creatures. Although this piece is vivid; it should be. Only by understanding this horrible life can humans stop it.

My little dog was a rescue dog and I love him cause he is my buddy.

Here we have a victim of a player. Perhaps a bit inexperienced in the game of love, our character finds illusion over truth. What can be done but deal with it? Beyond the broken heart and the betrayal lies emptiness. What will fill the void? Care should be taken to avoid it happening again.

He lives in this world but his love remains in the past. All the memories are painful but welcome. Sadly, though, time is taking it's toll of how vivid they appear. The small things are fading. That upsets him.
When we loose someone to death, we try to hold on to every moment with them. We feel certain there is no way we can't. Those memories soon seem like whispers that can be heard but fall away to time. To keep her memory alive he revisits her favorite place and takes their son along.
He is trying to keep mom alive for his boy too. To him she is an angel and always has been. Even if the memories are fading a bit doesn't make the love or loss any less.

This is touching and sad.
Easy to relate to for those of us who know.

Here we have a man thinking about his life and what he could have been. So many posibilities and most from times gone by.
You know what though? His imagination can take him anywhere and his characters can help him live vicariously through them. So he can be magic and gallant. He can have hearts swooning over his poetry. He can do anything because he has the gift of writing.

A man is reflecting on his life. Right now he is living alone and it makes him sad. He feels he has no one to love or anything to share.

Broken hearted and compassion that should have come by way of his family isn't there. Lovers have moved on. Although he has lived a average life there seemed to be those that found fault with him.

Those that judge him, how he lived, what he did and even how he looked. Sometimes when someone figures out what buttons to push when they spend time with someone; they will hurt them because they become vulnerable.

Some might spend most of their life never letting their guard down but how can one find love that way?We all win some and loose some. Just remember, as the piece suggest, don't judge people or think you are better. That just causes pain.
