This world is a challenging one. There no clear path and things rarely run smoothly. So to survive, one must gain a thick skin. As the piece suggest; you got to be tough to make it. So keeping that determination going isn't easy. After a while the hidden pain begins to show. Underneath this mask is a human being with a soul that can't let injustice keep rolling off the shoulders. Unfortunately, when it gets down to our character expressing concern; there are those that think it is weak.

Come on people, is it weak to care?
Is it weak to want the pain to stop?
Is it weak to seek out justice and throw away bitterness. After a while trying to be numb or disengaged makes you little more than a robot.

Thank you for sharing.

Our author reminds us that there are a lot of parts to this life of ours. There are good parts and bad parts. Happy parts and sad parts. We give and then receive.

Now, lets stop and think for a minute. There are some of us that find life pretty easy going. There are those that are content with letting life pass us by. Then there are those that walk toward the sun; carrying the load we have been given and feel joy. Which are you?

Do you take your life for granted?
Do you think life owes you something?
Do you feel fortunate for every single day you have been blessed with?

Thank you for sharing this piece with others.

He walked about and caught sight of a man. He got closer and couldn't place his face. There was something about the man that seems familiar. Sitting down the man addressed our character by name. Shocked to say the least. This wasn't a chance meeting I bet. The man knew our character from childhood. For some reason our character stayed young inside. A heart big enough to bring joy to his side.

Sometime adults forget those feelings. That magic from childhood. The ability to believe. The wonder of a reindeer in flight. The smile from a chubby man with a heart of gold. I still believe. Do you???

Our author shares what happens during a tornado. The quiet is unsettling. The winds begin to blow. The clouds soon join into a massive, towering structure. Whirling about comes the thunder and rain. Media Warning was sounded earlier but now the city siren goes off. It approaches fast. Nothing can stop it or lessen the possible damage. Take cover but part of you wants to see this real life monster. Going solely on nerves, you try to keep it together. As quickly as it came it leaves but what it leaves behind is beyond understanding.
On minute there are homes and the next there are blocks of flattened homes and misplaced cars.

It's morning and we have a woman standing on her back porch thanking God for this beautiful day. How many of us start the day that way? The warmth she feels from the sun goes beyond the physical being but rests inside the spiritual being. The glow, the certainty that this is Gods tapestry is felt here. The desire to spread his word, probably when she gets to work, is not a task but a joy. We need those that sow the seeds to those in need.

Some might think, it's just a morning sun, but to her it is one more day to love and be loved. Don't we all need that and long for that moment when His child says 'I love You too.'

Our author brings us a thought to ponder this new day.
We could write according to the how-to books or we could write from our hearts. As the piece suggest there are those that dwell on structure. Feelings and emotions are what brings the reader in. Finding something they can relate to will bring them back again. Sharing a laugh or sharing a tear will reach inside them where others couldn't. Finding words of encouragement or love might help the reader find the words they had been looking for.
Poetry isn't easy but so very rewarding. It matters that we reach out and touch the reader. Maybe even make them think.

She lives in a city now but reflects on what she left behind. The mountains so majestic. The roads holding their own adventure and yet serene. The curves forming an interesting ride on a road so far away. Her home, her heart, her life and love from many distant days are right where she left them so very long ago.

The thought was to move and find prosperity in the new location but the heart wants what it wants. There is something about beauty and the mountains that will always be called home.

A mother worries about her children and their faith. It seems they are turning away from God and she watches as it breaks her heart. She worries about their soul and whether they will find their way back to the path. The Words seem to have no effect. Her wisdom is only pushed aside. Parents worry about children no matter how old they are.

When they become adults; sometimes they think they are ready to call all the shots. That they know best for them. That their mistakes are their problem.

Well, as parents, we can only hope they will find their right footing again. What does the mother do; she prays and prays.

We all cherish our real friends. Sometimes something happens and we look at one of them in a different light. Could it be they are always there to help you up? Could it be they are and have been always there to make you feel like your are important? Sometimes it comes from the look in their eyes that shows more to your heart and soul than before. It has probably been there all along; you just have to open your eyes and see.

Our author takes us a long on a fanciful adventure of the feeling of new love. It started with the cloud and soon forgot everything. In a dream, floating about. Feeling lost, out of control because love. What a way to go!
Don't we all wish when we found our love, it would just happen that way.
Perhaps coming back to earth is for a later time; right now it's magic.

Dentist, they always come at you with that needle. Perhaps a bit of a gleam in his eyes. Then injecting the numbing solution; we no longer can feel. At least that's what they say. Sometimes there is a delightful moment when another shot will be needed. If you listen real careful you might hear a snicker or two.
After all, they rarely win a popularity contest. Right?

Here we have a small girl writing to her father. She wants him to keep his promise and visit with her. A mistake ep lieing but I think it was done for effect; as if written by that child. Adults don't stop and think how much children depend on what they say. Words mean so much to them. The company of her father would make her feel a lot more secure.

She lay in her bed with possible trouble at hand. Getting up to face this thing that could be smelled all over the place. Greeting her was a monster of sorts with the ability to make any one surrender with an odorous on slot. Her dog stayed by her side through the whole ordeal. Then finding it was a dream/ nightmare with the dog letting out gas. No monsters at all just a dog needing a walk or a cork.

Thank you for the funny piece.

This is simply beautiful. The feeling of faith and reassurance in this piece welcoming to the reader. The character explains how she has been lost before and He has always come to help lift her up. She has no doubt that He loves her. She admits being angry at Him and feeling fear but yet He is still beside her. She knows this mountain of life is for her to climb but also knows His words encourage her along. As the last line says He will make time for her.

I've plenty of time.

She keeps access to her heart locked away from the outside world. Apparently she has been hurt before and isn't willing to take chances again. A lot of people do that out of self defense. Getting over that kind of hurt takes a while and trust must be addressed.
Oh, but one day another lonely soul comes along casting a trusting light her way. Before she knows it the walls she has built slowly begin to crumble. She is willing to take that chance again. She isn't hiding any longer but beginning to live life again beside a gentle loving soul to repair her poor poor heart.

Thank you for sharing this.

We have a character who is reflecting on his life. When young he had fun with this friends and never gave much thought to what tomorrow might hold. As he became an adult he got messed up with the wrong crowd and made some decision he regrets. Sex and drinking was the order of the day but so much time had passed away. His mother wanted more for him and cried when she saw the path he was heading on. He remembers her tears.
He remembers his carefree years.
He knows nothing can change what has been done.
Being alone and full of pain and anger as he travels along.

Thank you for sharing this emotional piece.

It is making our character curious and even a bit nosy. Watching the talking guy is amusing and a bit time consuming. Then comes the surprise; the talking guys words are being heard by another too.

This piece is about a woman who keeps taking this guy back. She is lost without him. Her world apparently is turned upside down.

She knows he is bad for her but she is lonely for him anyway. She has probably been a ping pong ball for him many times. For some reason she feels safe with him and whole again once he returns.

So they start the dance of illusion. Things will work this time. The author compares them to actors on a stage. What happens when the orchestra leaves. When the songs end. When the reality walks through the double door at the theaters entrance and the guy walks out again? Alone again on a lonely stage.

Here we have a parent giving her daughter advice. Well the parent covers so many things the woman should do to please the husband. She must spend time telling about her wonderful family name. Almost like she should stay in her place like a trophy wife. She must be attractive on his arm. Listen to his every word. Any gifts must be praised.

(MY OPINION ONLY)
I read this piece over and over again and tried to find something for the woman to do to make HER happy. It's like she will be content and happy if she forgets herself and centers on him.

This reminds me of something.
There was an old movie called The Stedford Wives dealing with programmed robots who were at their husbands call.

The author brings us a piece about spring. So welcome is this season to all creatures big and small. The warmth, the sun, the flowers and fragrance. Smiles are plenty. Moods are nicer. A bit slower pace find our feet moving.
Rebirth and renewal. Birds singing. Bees buzzing. Butterflies showing off their colorful outfits. Don't forget the best part. That child inside us just might find it necessary to jump out.

Here we have a piece depicting how things aren't always the way they should be. Three pairs of children are making their way home from school as any other day. Four of the children find their parents waiting and eager to see them.

The last two children walk along against the wind.
As they travel and get closer to home; the little boy clings to his sister for protection. She looks after him like a little mother. Actually they must depend on each other. Their home environment is volatile and scary for them. The parents don't come out to greet them but instead yelling is heard. All the way to their home they have been walking against the wind. The wind taking on a protective roll as well. Letting them know to stay away. Inside the piece states they have no other place to go.

This is a sad piece.
A piece that rings true.
Not all children find loving parents waiting for them.

I like what you did with the form of the piece.
There was order in the lines in the beginning but as the piece progressed the piece became out of order as a way to show how dysfunctional their little lives are.

In this piece our author gives us glimpse inside the thoughts of a little oak tree. It was small and just starting out. Looking up at those oaks so much larger. Probably thinking this is such a big world I have been welcomed in. Before long the clouds form and the storm begins. Some of his family oaks get hit by lightning and fall. One protected him to help him survive. The year progresses and spring comes calling. Now our little tree can provide shelter for birds and little animals. Serving a purpose in delicate balance of nature. Soon there are more little oaks; this time from our characters seeds. Life begets life and so it goes.
Sometimes humans forget how important the trees are to our very survival.

Best part:
The song of life fills the air with its sweet music.

One could look at this another way. Lets say it could represent a look at life for a human. Starting out small, learning from those adults around and facing storms of life. All those moments help to make a person strong and dependable like an old oak tree.
Someone a friend could lean on. Someone who offers shelter and wisdom.

Our author reminds us how important laughter is in ones life. It is healthy and heals the body and the soul. Laughter is finding a reason to feel good and takes a lot less muscles to smile than to frown. Throw away the negatives and capture the positives that tend to makes a person feel better about themselves and life in general. Who among us hasn't found it easy to laugh about a child's antics. Or maybe being in the middle of a water balloon fight and not start laughing. Same with a snow ball fight. Then think of the friends to share a smile with. Laughter is comfort and takes us to a higher level. The day is brighter and our worries are lighter.
