I'm the lead editor for a small independent press, but I am on maternity leave for the next several years and thus not accepting submissions. I'll tell you my professional opinion on first chapters or short pieces and whether I would have accepted it or rejected it if I was looking for work. I've dealt most with controversial speculative fiction, and I'm most interested in polyamory a.k.a consensual non-monogamy.

I've experienced many meanings in life, and my current meaning grew inside me for nine months, though I certainly need breaks from that meaning for my mental health. I'm friends with a few elderly people who have never procrated, and their lives are very full of meaning, too.

This is a very interesting concept, though I can't help but wonder how big the boxes are, and there's no mention of how full they need to be. Get two pins in each box, and you only need 24 pins to have "a dozen boxes of pins."

I felt similarly about my name, so I chose a new one, and my parents went along with it. I actually went through two other attempts at getting a new name to stick, but my teachers refused to go along with it until I got to high school. I think it's natural for one to choose one's own name. Native Americans traditionally give names closer to adulthood as well.
